 Billericay Town 3 – 5 Chelmsford City

CITY found themselves 2 – 0 down after 40 minutes of Sunday’s match as they struggled to get their normal passing game going.

However they gave themselves a lifeline before the break after their battling paid off around the Town box, a loose ball falling to Paula Drane who powered a fine shot home.

The half time team talk had the right effort as City played some scintillating football in the second period.

After 50 minutes, good work at the back by City saw the ball moved forward where Emma Ridings set up her strike partner Drane who made no mistake with a clinical finish to level.

City were caught out soon after as they fell behind again to a long range effort but they were soon back on level terms.

Natalie Madlin’s surging run into the box was impeded and Drane completed her hat-trick by converting the resulting penalty.

City continued to dominate and took the lead in the 70th minute, Ridings rounding the goalkeeper and scoring.

With 10 minutes remaining, the impressive Shirley Cole made it 5 – 3 with a powerful goal bound header which went in off the back of an opponents head.
