ESSEX COUNTY WOMEN’S FOOTBALL LEAGUE

DIVISION ONE

Sunday 4th April 2004

 Chelmsford City 4 – 1 Brentwood Town

CHELMSFORD City faced a Brentwood side full of determination on Sunday which was evident within the first few minutes of the match.

Brentwood didn’t allow City to play their usual attacking football and the first half ended goalless.

City psychologically had the upper hand in the second half, with the slight tail wind behind them.

City went ahead on 60 minutes when Emma Wells, from the edge of the area, hit an unstoppable shot into the net.

It wasn’t long before City increased their lead through a well taken Emma Ridings goal, who from 20 yards out lobbed the ball over the Brentwood goalkeeper.

With City in control, they made it 3-0, courtesy of Paula Drane whose cross-cum-shot, a yard from the touchline curled into the top corner of the goal, and within 10 Minutes, Ridings extended the lead further with her second goal.

Despite being four goals down Brentwood netted a late and deserved consolation goal.
