 Chelmsford City 4 – 2 Harlow Town

 

CHELMSFORD City took a giant step to securing the Championship last Wednesday in their penultimate league fixture of the season.

    It took City 27 minutes before settling their nerves when Emma Wells met Shirley Cole’s cross to blast the ball into the net.

    Five minutes later, Natalie Madlin put Paula Drane through and she showed her goalscoring prowess by slotting the ball into the net.

    On 41 minutes, Wells put in a good cross into the box where Drane was on hand to net her second goal with clinical finish.

    Just before half time, Harlow reduced the arrears but it was City who went into the break enjoying a 3-1 lead.

    City restored their three goal cushion in the 70th minute A superb pass by Shirley Cole saw Paula Drane excellently chip the ball over the goalkeeper and into the net to her hat-trick.

    Harlow pulled another goal back in the 75th minute but City had already done enough to secure the three valuable points.
