Chelmsford City 3 – 2 Hethersett Athletic
CITY got the better of their Norfolk opposition to grind out a win in their push for a play off spot.
Hethersett took the lead after two minutes, and City equalised via Emma Wells who slotted the ball into the net after a one-on-one situation with the Hethersett goalkeeper.
Wells scored again on 25 minutes, following a pass from Emma Ridings.
Chelmsford began to play some outstanding football and this paid off on 30 minutes, as Laura Brown saw the goalkeeper off her line and took full advantage, lobbing her from some distance.
Both teams came out from the interval fired up, and the visitors scored again to make it 3-2, but City held on for an important victory.
City are now still relying on other results as they keep up the pressure on the top two, but it will take a huge effort on City’s part, plus a slip-up from one of the top two teams, to send Chelmsford into the play-offs.
