 Chelmsford City 1 – 3 White Notley

CITY needed to avoid a seven goal defeat against second place White Notley to win the title and were expecting Notley to attack, and they did, by taking a 2-0 lead within nine minutes.

City pulled a goal back on 20 minutes via Paula Drane.

Emma Ridings beat two opponents before crossing to Drane who volleyed a shot into the net to the delight of the crowd of over 100.

City’s defence restricted the visitors to speculative long shots which were well dealt with by City’s young keeper, Ruth Smith.

As the game entered the final period, Notley netted a third goal on the counter-attack with a low drive.

That was the end of the scoring, and the City squad celebrated with their jubilant supporters at the final whistle.

Paula Drane was presented with the League Division One Top Goalscorer award after the game before both teams were presented with their medals and the Championship trophy.
