Criminal Justice Unit 0 – 7 Chelmsford City
CITY stretched their unbeaten run to six games on Sunday following a comfortable victory against an inexperienced Suffolk side.
City’s early dominance paid off when Emma Ridings opened the scoring after 10 minutes, her free-kick curling over the wall and past the reach of the out-stretched goalkeeper.
City continued to play good attacking football and were almost rewarded when Laura Kendle made a surging run from defence before putting in a cross from Zoe Taylor, who hit a low shot which was well dealt with by the home goalkeeper.
By half time, City were 3 – 0 up, goals by Sharon Brownlie and Zoe Taylor adding to Ridings’ earlier strike.
Going into the second half the visitors began to look lethargic again, with Criminal Justice having shots saved by stand-in City keeper Kerri Binks.
However, City, soon regained control and hit the back of the net four more times, Substitute Catherine Hyland scored her first goal of the season, while Ashleigh Harding netted her first senior goal with a looping ball over the defence, which sailed past the goalkeeper.
The other two goals came from goalkeeper Kerri Binks, who stepped up from between the sticks to curl in a stunning free-kick, and Emma Wells with her first goal of the season.
This Sunday sees City face title contenders, Loddon United at Barnston AFC, High Easter Road (Kick off 2pm).
