FA Women’s Cup
First Round
Sunday 23rd October 2005
Dagenham & Redbridge 5 – 2 Chelmsford City
City had the unenviable task of being massive underdogs at South East Combination Dagenham & Redbridge on Sunday.
They can away with all pride intact in a game that was much closer than the scoreline suggested.
The Daggers took the lead on 42 minutes and City equalised with a fine goal from Sarah Jolly.
The Clarets came out from the half-time break fired up and with 30 minutes left, Emma Wells fired her team into a 2-1 lead.
Dagenham’s strength in-depth was to be the decider between the two teams, as firstly they equalised and then scored again to put them back ahead.
Chelmsford continued to give their best efforts by pressing forward buy the Daggers netted two more goals to send them through to the Second Round Proper.
