Chelmsford City 4 - 3 Brentwood after Penalties
Both teams battled hard to keep the ball and score the much needed early goal.
City's Ridings battled hard and took the ball trough the Brentwood defence and
scored one of her trade mark goals giving City an early lead. Brentwood fought
back and scored a well earned equaliser. Both teams continued to thrash it out
giving their all. At the final whistle both teams with barely a chance to catch
their breath played on for an extra five minutes each way. Result 1-1
The game was decided on penalties.
First up was Brentwood and City's keeper Topper got a hand to it I but was
unable to keep it out. 1- 0 Brentwood. Next up was Jade Nelson who coolly
slotted in a well taken penalty. 1-1. Next up was Brentwood with a calmly taken
penalty. 2-1. City's Ridings was unable to put the ball past Brentwood's keeper
who made a crucial save 2-1 Brentwood. Brentwood's third penalty taker slotted
the ball comfortably in the net. 3-1. Next up was city's Vernon who raised
City's spirits with a very well taken penalty. 3-2 Brentwood. City's keeper
Topper did just enough to put off the Brentwood player who saw her effort go
wide. 3-2 Brentwood. Up next was City's Wonder goal scorer Claire Pavett who
scored the leveller 3-3. Up stepped Brentwood and the players effort was over
the bar 3-3. City's Laura Brown limped up to the spot and scored the winner 4-3
City.
Citys Players: Topper, Parker, Vernon, Wheate, Bell, Taylor, Pavett, Nelson,
Britton, Wells, Wheeler, Brownlie, Brown, Garrett, Ridings, and Jolly.
City retained their title for the third year running. Well done to the girls who
worked hard and never gave up regardless of how tired they were.
Thank you the Essex FA and all the officials for a fantastic day. An extra big
thank you to Paul and all the staff at Marconies for all their hard work and
hospitality.
Also well done to all the teams in our league who played exceptionally well and
to Brentwood for once again making it a great final and playing good passing
football. Thank you Kevin for helping with our injured players , and last but
not least to Phil the physio. We also wish the Brentwood player who was unable
to play in the final a speedy recovery.
