Chelmsford City 1 Bedford 5
Sunday 23rd November 2008, Marconi Leisure, West Hanningfield Road, Kick Off 2.00pm. Eastern Region Women's League Premier Division.

City slumped to a disappointing defeat against their third placed opponents on Sunday to resign City to their second league defeat of the season.

City started the game strong, two early Jasmine Wheeler efforts going close. City continued to dominate for the first 15 minutes and a penalty shout was turned down when a Bedford player looked to have handle in the box but a goal kick was given.

City failed to capitalise on a number of chances and the overlapping and pace of Taylor and Wells down the right, provided Ridings with a chance but a goalmouth scramble eventually saw the ball cleared. Ridings was again involved with a strong run which carved open the Bedfrord defence but her shot was caught by the keeper. Ridings then became the provider who linked up with Brown but her powerful shot went wide.

Bedford were looking to the swift counter-attack and scored completely against the run of play which lifted the away side who snatched a quick second just before half time.
The second half wasn't much better for City as they began to lose their way and Bedford snatched a third when a corner was not dealt with and deflected into the net off a City players boot.

Ridings upped the pace and gave City hope as she tore through the defence to lob the Bedford keeper with a 20 yard shot but the missed first half chances were to prove crucial. City failed to keep Bedford at bay with sloppy defending which cost them another them another two goals eventually going down to their heaviest defeat of the season.
