Chelmsford City Reserves 4 Saffron Walden Town 'B' 0
Sunday 23rd November 2008, West Hanningfield Road, West Hanningfield Road. Kick Off 2.00pm. Essex County Women's League Division 2.

An Ashleigh Harding second half brace set City on their way to a fine victory which moves them back up into 3rd place.

City looked to have took the lead in the opening minutes when Alice MacInnes intelligently converted but the goal was ruled out for offside. Both teams tried to play passing football on the wet, sticky surface during the first half but found the going hard. Chances were created but both defences held firm.

As half time approached, City took the lead through striker Letitia Cleary, who calmly slotted the ball home giving her side a welcome lead at the break.

he second half saw City use either wing to greater effect and made sure of the points with three more goals. Ashleigh Harding capped a fine performance with a brace while the final goal was netted by Angela Holden with a 30 yard effort. Her low, drilled shot skidded off the wet surface and squirmed through the keepers grasp into the net.

City’s keeper, Sarah Water’s made a commanding performance in her first game in goal for City and will now lead the team out at Southend United this coming Sunday.
