Writtle
Minors 1 Chelmsford City 0
Sunday 18th
January 1009, Paradise Road, Writtle. Kick Off 1.30pm, Essex County Girls League
Under 11 Eastern Division
After weeks of inactivity, City olayed their
first game of 2009 and a second half penalty sent City to their first defeat of
the season.
Writtle enjoyed the better of the first half as City struggled to get the ball forward, kicking against a strong wind with the home side going close on a number of occasions. In fact, Writtle struck the upright on two separate occasions but the City held firm.
The second half saw City looking much better, working the ball forward well on a number of occasions but could not find the clear cut chances they were looking for. Both teams played entertaining end to end football and the only goal came midway through the half. A ball into the box bounced up and struck an unfortunate defenders arm and the resultant penalty was put away.
City
continued to search out the elusive equaliser but eventually ran out of time.
