Essex County Women’s League
League Cup 1st Round
Sunday 16th February 2003
Chelmsford City 6 – 0 Beacon Hill Ladies
BEACON HILL ladies did themselves proud at the weekend in their cup – tie game against Chelmsford City.
The Hill defence and midfield proved to be a tough barrier for City to break for the first 35 minutes with Hill pushing the opposition out wide causing them various problems.
However, the City forwards found their way through eventually and scored two goals before the break.
The visitors started the second half as they had finished the first, trying to pressure the opposition’s defence as often as possible, but with City pushing as far forward as they could their third goal came from a corner.
Hill continued to battle and, when possible, got the ball through the City defence and crosses into the box, however the final touch into the back of the net seemed to elude them.
But the home side proved too powerful and went on to win 6-0.
