Sunday 8th September 2002
Chelmsford City 3 – 2 Chelmsford City U17s
There was an entertaining pre-season run out for both sides on Sunday and it gave managers a look at their players between the senior and under 17 teams of Chelmsford City Ladies FC, sponsored by Mercedes-benz Direct.
By half time the honours were even at 1-1 after the youthful, skilful under 17s had matched their senior counterparts in every department.
Kerri Binks had given the youngsters a 14th minute lead with a well taken close range goal with the hard-working Lucy Garrett replying in the 29th minute.
There were a number of chances made by both managers during the second half which disrupted the flow of the game as every player was given a run out.
The seniors took advantage and netted twice through Lucy Garrett netting her second on 60 minutes and Emma Ridings extended the lead on 65minutes.
Kerri Binks pulled a goal back on 71 minutes and this was how the scoreline stayed as both defences worked hard to restrict opposite forwards to harmless long range efforts.
