 Mulbarton Belles 2 – 3 Chelmsford City

AN EMMA Ridings hat-trick saw Chelmsford return from Norfolk with three hard earned points on Sunday.

In an evenly contested first half, City had a number of chances kept out by the athleticism of the home goalkeeper who saved a number of chances while City’s stand-in keeper, Kerri Binks, was also in top form with a number of saves to ensure the scoreline remained blank at half time.

The home side opened the scoring in the 61st minute and extended their lead on 66 minutes with a swift breakaway goal.

Almost immediately, Ridings weaved her way through the defence before rounding the goalkeeper and rolling the ball into the net.

Both sides continued to work the ball forward intelligently although City were now realising the early ball forward was proving more beneficial than the patient passing build-up play and on 77 minutes Ridings ran onto an Elizabeth Marshall ball forward to confidently stroke the ball home.

City netted what proved to be the winning goal with ten minutes remaining when Ridings pounced to complete her hat-trick and see her side to three points.
