WHITE NOTLEY 2 – 4 CHELMSFORD CITY
Chelmsford City went into this game looking to keep their 100 per cent start to the season, against last season’s League Cup Winners.
City’s keeper Clare Pearson pulled off a good save in the 16th minute by blocking a crisp shot but, moments later, Notley deservedly took the lead with a forward cleverly lifting the ball over Pearson.
Things looked bad for City in the 35th minute as the home side capitalised on the space afforded with Bowmen netting from close range.
In the 54th minute Lisa Foakes kept her cool to slip the ball past the approaching ‘keeper and, five minutes later, City drew level when Lucy Terrell’s shot from the right was misjudged by Notley’s ‘keeper, the ball bouncing over her and into the net.
With 20 minutes remaining, Ridings gained possession on the edge of the Notley box before turning under pressure and drilling the ball into the bottom corner.
With the game entering injury time and Notley pushing players forward, City sealed the points following a swift move.
Ridings provided a superb ball to Foakes who beat the offside trap to gain a notable victory and Chelmsford to the top of the table.
