Chelmsford City Reserves 5 – 0 Woodham Radars

A good win for Chelmsford Reserves, sponsored by Milan Europe, which proves the great strength in depth their squad contains as this victory was achieved without six regulars.

Chelmsford started the game brightly and opened the scoring through Dawn Barnard, on her 211th Appearance, with a 25 yard strike into the top right hand corner.  A second was soon added when Natalie Paul crashed a superb effort which struck the underside of the bar and Emma Ridings followed up well to poke home the second.

An entertaining game saw play switch from end to end with Woodham nearly getting back into the game, when a free kick was excellently cleared off the line by skipper Debbie Watts, which ensured City enjoyed a two goal lead at the break.

Chelmsford dominated the possession in the second half and added to their advantage with a neat finish from Ridings for her second, having been set free following a neat interchange of passes through midfield.  Woodham continued to battle but could find no way through the Chelmsford defensive quarter of Metson, Barnard, Hill and Campbell-Harvey.  The two full backs showed their attacking qualities by overlapping well down either flank as City continued to dominate, driven forward by the intelligent prompting of Jo Millar and Watts in the midfield and well backed up by the competitive of Vikki Pound.

It came as no surprise when Chelmsford scored again with a deserved strike from Paul, crossing home a long range drive before Millar rounded off the scoreline with a sweetly struck left foot strike.

CHELMSFORD CITY: Pearson, Hill, Metson, Barnard, Campbell-Harvey, Cook, Watts, Millar, Pound, Paul, Ridings.
