Lt Thurrock Dynamos Oranges 2 Chelmsford City 4
Sunday 9th November 2008, Orsett Cock roundabout, A13. Kick Off 10.00 am. Essex County Girls League Under 11 League Cup 1st Round.

Chelmsford City booked a place in the second round after a brace from Sophie Vale and Charlotte Barnard recorded a second win in three weeks against Lt Thurrock Dynamos.

A blustery Sunday morning saw`a hard fought hard fought battle on a very bumpy pitch and after sustained early pressure by City,  Sophie Vale opened the scoring to make it 1-0 to Chelmsford. City continued to push despite Lt Thurrock battling hard to contain the swift attacking movement of Barnard and Vale. Barnard made it 2-0 after some good work on the right and that’s how the game stood at half time.

The home side came out more determined after the break with the strong wind at their backs, but City’s defence looked solid and held firm. Minutes after the restart, Barnard made it 3-0 following a great through ball from Vale saw Barnard calmly slide th ball past the keeper.

Lt Thurrock never gave up and pulled one back to make it 3-1 before Melissa Burton then played a great through ball for Vale to make it 4-1. LTD scored a late consolation goal in the last few minutes but Chelmsford held on to be worthy winners and will meet Tigers in the second round on 9th Februray.
