Ashingdon Youth 2 Chelmsford City 3
Sunday 28th September 2008. Ashingdon School, Fambridge Road, Rocford. Kick Off 2.00pm Under 11 Friendly
With City’s opponents unable to field a side at the eleventh hour, this hastily re-arranged friendly saw both teams produce a tight close encounter played in stifling heat on Sunday.
Sophie Vale struck a well deserved hat-trick as City edged this fixture with Charlotte Barnard winning the player of the match award for an industrious performance which saw her set up two of the goals.
The match was played in three thirds to allow well earned breaks in the heat and for the respective Manager’s to give guidance to the players. City enjoyed the majority of the first period but the host edged the second. The third period was more evenly contested with City coming out on tip with a late strike.
Both teams were rightly applauded at the end by a sizeable and appreciative crowd who witnessed a skilful, hard contested match.
