Little Thurrock Dynamos Oranges 1  Chelmsford City 3

Sunday 19th October 2008, Loft Hall, by Orsett Cock roundabout, A128, Orsett. Kick Off 1.00pm, Essex County Girls League Under 11 Eastern Division.

A Sophie Vale hat-trick secured victory over one of their title rivals on Sunday, strengthening their position at the top of the table.

On a windy day, Chelmsford started off slowly and this gave the home side the chance to get in to their stride quickly giving City plenty of problems all over the pitch. Luckily for City, their defence held firm with some good battling performances and some excellent protection from Maddie Twaite in her holding midfield role.

Chelmsford started to get into their stride were rewarded when top scorer Sophie Vale opened the scoring after some good work from Ashton Payne on the left set her through on goal, although the goalkeeper saved the initial shot Vale followed up to finish it off at the second attempt.

Little Thurrock, not to be out done battled back and was rewarded with an equaliser before half time through a sweetly struck free kick .

After a half time talk Chelmsford came out with more conviction and a lot more determination. This was soon rewarded when Charlotte Barnard supplied the vital pass to Vale for her to score her 2nd goal with a high looping shot that dropped in just under the bar.

The home side continued to battle, causing plenty of problems but City were determined not to let their lead slip this time. City were rewarded when Vale completed her hat trick with a well taken goal to make it 3 -1. Both teams worked hard to the end and this well contested match between two talented teams, played in a good sporting manne, ended with City claiming the points.
