Leigh Ramblers 4 Chelmsford City 0
Sunday 1st February 2009 at Belfairs Recreation Ground, Leigh-on-Sea. Kick Off 1.30pm, Essex County Girls League Under-13 Division.

This is one game the City girls will want to forget in a hurry following a comprehensive defeat in excruciatingly cold conditions.

The visitors never got their passing game going and were out-fought in all key areas of the pitch. Leigh went ahead on 22 minutes and seven minutes later the lead was doubled, giving the Clarets a tough task. Jennifer Baldock's low drive on the stroke of half-time that clipped the foot of the post was their best effort, and things rapidly got worse when they conceded a sloppy third goal just twenty seconds after the restart. City did keep battling away but another goal for the hosts put the seal on a disappointing display from Chelmsford. One of the few plusses was the performance of Amy Clark at left-back who duly won the 'Girl of the Match' award, with the final whistle greeted with great relief as warmth beckoned!
