Friendly.

Great Bradfords 5 Chelmsford City 0

at the Alec Hunter School, Braintree, kick-off 2.00pm.

An experimental City side battled bravely during this friendly fixture on Sunday afternoon but unfortunately their current losing streak continued.

With seven regulars missing and most players playing out of position, it was always going to be a difficult task. Newcomers Hannah Turner and Stevie Bugg both played their part but City found themselves under pressure early on. A couple of customary top saves by Christie Lucking kept the visitors in contention but Great Bradfords’ persistence inevitably paid off, and by half-time they had built up a healthy 3-0 advantage.

Gemma Plank did test the home goalkeeper with a couple of long-range shots, and after the break Chelmsford’s efforts could have seen them get on the scoresheet. But two late goals finally buried any hopes of a comeback, and it certainly would have been a bigger losing margin had it not been for ‘Girl of the Match’ Jennifer Baldock whose display at the centre of defence was absolutely outstanding.

Chelmsford City: Christie Lucking, Laura Massey, Jennifer Baldock, Karina Fox, , Hollie Austin, Sophie Dorrington, Stevie Bugg, Hannah Turner, Gemma Plank.

 Referee: Peter Beadle (Braintree).
