BRENTWOOD TOWN 4 CHELMSFORD CITY 1

Essex County Girls Football League Under-14 Division 1, played at the Brentwood Centre on Sunday 20th September 2009, kick-off 12.30pm.

Chelmsford City’s under-14 side didn’t get the result they hoped for having played some good football for much of the game. Their cause wasn’t helped by having only nine fit players available, but despite this they enjoyed large chunks of possession during the first-half but without seriously testing the Town goalkeeper.

Unfortunately a moment’s hesitation in defence cost them two minutes before the interval and Brentwood made them pay. Another goal early in the second-half seemed to have put the game out of City’s reach only for Hollie Austin to superbly drive the ball home at the far post to register her first goal for the club.

However, the Clarets were soon caught out again - expecting a free-kick in their favour which wasn’t given - and Town raced down the other end to virtually seal victory. A fourth goal in the latter stages ensured it was not to be City’s day but they will be looking to bounce back on Sunday when they entertain Leigh Ramblers at Marconi Leisure, kick-off 2.00pm.

City’s Player of the Match trophy went to Jade Harrington for her non-stop desire to win every tackle.

CHELMSFORD CITY: Christie Lucking, Ellie Annan, Hannah Tomsett, Laura Massey, Jade Harrington, Karina Fox, Emily Kendle, Gemma Plank, Olivia Robinson, Hollie Austin.
