Little Thurrock Dynamos Stars 5 Chelmsford City 1

               Sunday 11th October 2009 at Orsett Cock, A128, kick-off 10.00am

Essex County Girls League Under-14 Division A

A score line of 5-1 did not do justice to the hard work and endeavours of a depleted City squad that fought and battled against League title contenders Little Thurrock Dynamos

Right from the start the home team made their intentions clear. But City were more than up for the challenge and matched them in every department. For the first ten minutes, the game ebbed and flowed in equal measure. But it was the home team that took the lead after ten minutes when a loose ball trickled into City’s net. The visitors did not buckle however, and took the game to the home team putting their defences under pressure, but it was the home team that scored again on the stroke of twenty minutes. City applied yet more pressure, and City striker Hollie Austin was unlucky to see her shot saved by the home ‘keeper. Just before the half finished LTD scored another taking the score to 3-0.

The second half started much like the first, producing entertaining football by both sides. But once again the home side managed to score two more goals after twenty minutes of play. Thirty minutes into the half Hollie Austin was adjudged to of been fouled in the penalty area which City striker Jennifer Baldock calmly converted to take the final score to 5-1.

This was a positive, confident display of football by Chelmsford City which just showed what they are capable of.

The ‘Girl of the Match’ award went to defender Leanne Miles for a commanding performance in the heart of City’s defence.
