Redbridge Ladies 4 Chelmsford City 2

Sunday 25th October 2009 at the Elmbridge Sports Club, kick-off 2.15pm.

Essex County Girls League Under-14 Division A.

Another disappointing result for Chelmsford who had looked destined for victory after excelling in the first-half to gain a deserved 2-0 lead.

The visitors started very brightly and it seemed only a matter of time before they opened their account, such was the overwhelming balance of play. And following several wasted openings the Clarets belatedly went in front on 16 minutes when Rosanna Critchell’s deft pass set up Laura Massey whose shot found the net from ten yards.

City’s dominance continued and eight minutes later Jennifer Baldock doubled the score from similar distance with an unstoppable blast that absolutely flew into the net. Chances to put Redbridge out of sight came and went at regular intervals and this was to prove costly in the second-half. Nine minutes after the break the hosts pulled a goal back and from then on they took full control as the pendulum swung firmly in their favour.

An equaliser soon arrived and Redbridge built on their new-found confidence to eventually claim the points with relative ease. ‘Player of the Match’ for City was Hollie Austin but unfortunately for the visitors it turned out to be the proverbial ‘game of two halves’.
