Essex County Girls League Under 15 A Division.
Sunday 1st November 2009
Sporting '77 1 Chelmsford City 17
at Deanery Hill, Bocking, Braintree, CM7 5SS. Kick Off 2.00pm
Chelmsford City travelled to Braintree, half expecting the game to be cancelled as the weather on the journey was made in torrential rain. However, the sky held firm when they arrived and City were able to gain 3 valuable points with their 6th win of the season.
In a very one sided game, Mollie Dubell led the way for City with four goals, the pick of these being one directly from a corner that swung in at the near post and a cracking (if slightly miss hit) effort from the right hand touchline that flew over the keeper's head. Hat tricks for Rebecca Hinton and Katie Aldis, braces from Shannon Matthews, Becky Bryant and Millie Richards plus a Rosie Coe effort completed the rout.
City went in at the break 9-0 up and were guilty of being a little complacent in the second half and allowed Sporting, who fought back well in the latter stages, a chance to grab a consolation goal with a well struck lob that beat the otherwise unemployed Georgina Outhwaite in the City goal.
City coped well with the windy, soggy conditions and now look forward to building on this win next week at home to Island Girls.
