Essex County Girls' Football League

Under 15 Division.

Island Girls 1 Chelmsford City 7

Essex County Girls Football League A Division. Sunday 4th October 2009 played at Smallgains Playing Fields, Creek Road, Canvey Island, Essex SS8 8QL. Kick Off 12.30pm.

Chelmsford maintained their 100% record with this emphatic win in Canvey Island. The game started evenly and although City played the better football, neither side could open the scoring during the first period.

A change of formation and the introduction of debutant Katy Aldis made a huge difference to City and they opened the scoring after 5 minutes of the second half. A beautiful left footed cross from Aldis was swept home by Rosie Coe.

City upped the pace and made it 2-0 moments later with Coe again on target. Island girls fought their way back into the game and a long throw in led to their goal.

City rallied and replied almost immediately with Shannon Matthews keeping her nerve to finish off more good wing play from Aldis, who then held her run brilliantly to beat the off side trap and open her own City account. A poorly cleared City corner allowed Christy Hill to swivel on the edge of the box and make it four, with Katy Aldis rounding off the scoring with a well executed effort after an Island player had put through her own net for City's sixth.
