CHELMSFORD CITY 10 SPORTING 77 2

Essex County Girls Football League Under-15 Division 1, played at Marconi Leisure, West Hanningfield Road CM2 8HN.  Sunday 27th September 2009, kick-off 2.00pm.

City made it two wins in a row with a good team performance against a well organised Sporting '77 side in the heat on Sunday afternoon.

The opening exchanges saw both sides looking like scoring but neither could convert their chances and the score remained 0-0 until Millie Richards opened the scoring with a debut goal on the half hour mark. Her initial shot was well saved but the keeper couldn't hold on to it, allowing Millie to finish at the second attempt.

The opening goal woke City up and Richards made it two soon after the restart. City were awarded a penalty just before half time and Christie Hill calmly stepped up to slot the ball home from the spot.

The second half started badly for City as Sporting managed to catch City on the break and open their own account. However, it didn't take the girls long to respond with Hill making it four for City.  City continued to press and the hard work paid off with Chloe Evans adding a fifth. At this stage the girls became a little complacent and some slack defending allowed Sporting to grab a second.  City responded in the best way possible with Hill completing her hat-trick.  City were not finished and got a hat-trick of her own, slamming home another penalty after Shannon Matthews was fouled just inside the box. Rebecca Hinton made up for a mistake in the opening minutes by firing home after some excellent build up before Shannon Jones got in the act, bundling home a Hill cross from the right. Hill then completed the scoring by pouncing on a loose ball to get her fourth and City's tenth.
