City made the long journey once again to the Manchester Umbro
International Cup.
Great Britain Deaf Squad - City Won 2 - 1
City's first game was against the Olympic Medal winning Great Britain Deaf
Squad. In the deaf squad were some familiar faces Former City players Carly
Mans and Lisa Neapeon.
The first
half see city with an early attack in the soaring heat. Within in the first
five minutes striker Emma Ridings scored a well earnt goal. The deaf squad were
very strong opponents and ten minutes their persistence paid off with a very
well taken goal. Just before the stroke of half time the hard working Jasmine
Wheeler linked on to well placed Kerri Binks ball and crossed it in the box for
Ridings to header in city's second.
The second half see both team battling well in the heat. City's keeper Jade
Parker made some excellent saved and made a promising start for the season. An
early Parker ball to Lucy Garrett who crossed to Helen Alder who flicked it on
to Laura Brown who se her effort go wide. Minutes later Parker made a great
interception and as she was fouled the deaf squad capitalised making the final
score 2-1. Ridings x 2
